Sad, he was doing so well this year. Hopefully he'll get a good new coach.

Predictable. Tennis requires discipline. Tsonga has none.

Well, this is a stupid move. Maybe he'll coach himself again for a while? Lay Down Laughing

RE: Tsonga splits with his coach Rasheed
I always find it interesting when players split with their coaches during an extended period of inactivity...They get impatient maybe, restless, feel like they have to do something since they cannot play? I would rather JWT come back from the injury, play a couple tournaments and then pull the trigger but what do I know? There might be a bunch of reasons...

I must have missed that. Which year was that? He lost in the semi after dismissing Rog.

Incorrect. He lost in the semis and never made it to a Wimb final. The reason: he didn't have a coach. Well, maybe not but it sounds good anyway.

I can make one prediction: his career is over.Tongue

you think because he beat woger he must have reached the final..sadly it was a QF victory..from 2 sets down, his best win probably.

I cant recall him winning a masters tourney even.

knowing me alan partridge, knowing you tennis frontier..ah ha.

Rasheed is unlucky with his French pupils....he should stay away from Froggies
I'm not surprised by this move, Tsonga isn't a hard worker a Rasheed is very harsh

I was gutted he didn't do better. After dismissing Rog in such a great comeback it sure would've been nice to at least make the final. Disappointing is an understatement as whenever Tsonga wins a big match, sadly he usually loses the next rather poorly. Same with Gulbis and Berdych. So inconsistent but when they're at their best they can beat the best. I just wish it happened more than once every 4 years.

he was only with that coach for a bit..personality clash prob,

that the problem with coaches.. too easily sacked for telling the player want they need to hear but don't always want to hear it.

knowing me alan partridge, knowing you tennis frontier..ah ha.

Tsonga will be back in Metz next week (with no coach around) where he'll defend his title
Hope he can qualify for Masters
Welcome back Jo

Sad, he was doing so well this year. Hopefully he'll get a good new coach.

Predictable. Tennis requires discipline. Tsonga has none.

And tennis coaching requires tennis knowledge. Rasheed has none. Rasheed is a fitness guy. Maybe Tsonga woke up one day and realized his coach has nothing to offer from a tennis perspective. Hewitt already warned everybody about Rasheed. The French guys didn't listen.

If it took 4 years for Hewitt to figure out Rasheed has no tennis knowledge, what does that say about Hewitt?Wink...Let's not judge other's knowledge unless you have inside info that no fans or players are privy to.

RE: Tsonga splits with his coach Rasheed
Who would make a good coach for Tsonga? Personally I cringe every time I see Tsonga slicing like a butcher. It just doesn't seem a natural shot for him. Of course it's extremely difficult to play crazy aggressive red lined tennis all match long but he's done it in the past. Hard to tell him to be even more aggressive but I'm thinking he needs to try something a little different in any case. He's a big guy and rallying non stop isn't the answer for him with recurring knee problems. Glad to hear he's back in action soon and hopefully he'll make the WTF. Imagine Annacone with Tsonga. He'd probably tell him he's not aggressive enough. One thing I'll say is he needs to wait for the right moment to strike and not blindly hit every ball for a winner. At times he reminds me of Blake. Absolutely spectacular if it comes off but the complete opposite if it doesn't.
