RE: Tsonga withdraws from US Open
Tsonga only had a few points to defend as he went out in the 2R last year, so it doesn't impact, say, Roger Federer so much, who might otherwise have been able to stretch his lead over Tsonga. Who it may impact, however, is the group behind Tsonga - Gasquet, Wawrinka, and Raonic, maybe even Haas or Janowicz - who with a strong finish at the US Open may be able to gain some ground and try to challenge Tsonga for that 8th spot at the World Tour Finals.

Interesting point, Dude, about who this could impact. Poor Jo-Will. Too many injuries. Sad

RE: Tsonga withdraws from US Open
Bummer....Tsonga is so much fun to watch.

It is starting to sound a bit like a sign of things to come. So many of the top players are reaching a point where their bodies are fighting back. Perhaps the players like Tommy Haas, Serena...that had injuries that required major time-outs to heal (something specific) may turn out to have a bit more longevity in that the rest of their body wasn't put through the rigors that regular play requires...

RE: Tsonga withdraws from US Open
The important immediate question is who would be the lucky person
to be seeded eighth at USO in view of Tsonga's withdrawal.

If Milos defeats Isner today, Milos would get a new ranking of 9 and will be
seeded eighth in USO. This is because Gasquet and Wawrinka have already lost
in Cincy. If Milos loses Gasquet will get that seeding at USO (unless Hass does
some miracle such as reaching the final of Cincy by defeating possibly
Federer, Nadal and Murray en route).

defeating possibly Federer, Nadal and Murray That isn't a miracle, Its the impossible Trifecta.. odds might be better winning the Powerball Lotto.. Have this ever been done and someone won the tournament.?.(only 2011 Djoker could have possibly pull this trifecta off)

As it is a mathematical possibility, I included it. As it is extremely unlikely it is
sitting within the parentheses.

Foregt 2011 Djoker, actually 2007 Djoker did it. He won the Canadian Masters
be defeating players ranked 1, 2 and 3 in the QF, SF and F. (in some order).

He beat Roddick, Nadal and Federer. However, I was wrong in thinking that
they were seeded, 3,2 and 1. They were seeded 5,2 and 1. Actually Djoker
had the seeding of 3. At that time Murray was nobody.

All due respect Andy Roddick was a great player but Murray is going to have more of an accomplished career , IMO.

Milos has gone home. SO, 8th seed belongs to Gasquet with a high probability.

With both Milos and Haas losing, the question is now settled.

Gasquet will be the beneficiary and pick up the eighth seed at USO.

Simon pulled out but he's going to be a dad soon so I guess he wants to stay with Carine as much as possible
