most annoying and irritating tennis players of the past
who were the most annoying and irritating tennis players from your own vantage point?

you have floor. probably no need to trash or absolutely slam anybody as we have fans of all the players here.

anyway here is my list:

1. nasty
2. Connors
3. johnny mac

I will just throw 3 names out there for now just to get the ball rolling.

mac certainly irritated the hell out of the chair umpires and the lines people. nasty was just moody from what I read and heard. he could be a prince or he could be a pain in the neck for the umpires and the lines people.

I see what you are saying. maybe we will change it to just the past pros who retired long ago.

I heard jeff terrango was quite irritating and annoying. is there any truth to that?

what exactly did he do to earn such a label?

Well for past players I'll just say the way Sampras stuck his tongue out while serving used annoy me but that's only a small thing really Smile

As for the question I am going back in the memory bank and all I can come up with is Lleyton Hewitt, specifically the young, great in your face player. Korda was another weird one.

Sampras did have that hangdog look at times.

what a serve he had. such a simple and relatively compact service motion but what power and accuracy.

it was simply perfect/flawless mechanics on the serve.

Yeah I mean I loved his serve (who couldn't) and his trade mark slam dunks were unreal but the sticking the tongue out while serving got on my nerves.

Tarango was a prat but wasn't that the same umpire who did get kicked out for corruption?

I don't remember hearing of corrupt umps in tennis. The NBA recently had a ref betting on games but I haven't heard of anything like that in other sports. That said, this chair ump did seem incompetent but that's not always a rarity with chair umps is it :snigger

rusty did his thing for sure back in the old days but has matured quite a bit over the years.

he was the youngest world #1 at something like 19 if I am not mistaken.

Yes I believe that's right regarding Hewitt being the youngest #1. That feisty demeanor is part of what made him so good until injuries and Federer took over. Mostly I just don't like when players go crazy after an opponent's unforced error. I know a point won is a point won but I do think some players go overboard at times and he was chief among them.

over the top celebrations after winning the match is not too cool either.

they can always wait until the other player is off the court at least.

especially where all time greats are involved. you have to show them proper respect. the sport demands that.

The first time I remember NBA Refs being in trouble was due to them trading in their 1st class airline tickets so in the end they were guilty of "tax evasion!" Living in Sacramento for 10 years, I'll always find them to be corrupt with that Western Final against LA! Kobe smashes Christy in the face, bloodying his nose, but Christy get a foul called against him! Stern had them in his pocket and didn't want the Kings to win! I'll never forget it and haven't really cared that much about the game since; barely watching any! Huh Angry Huh Angry - The NBA could shut down tomorrow and I couldn't care less! The game has been a joke since Michael retired the 2nd time anyway!

Lay Down Laughing Hadn't seen that in years. Hilarious the way his wife became involved. They were precursors to reality TV "stars." You know they would have been offered their own show if that had happened during this year's Wimbledon.

I vaguely remember hearing that tax evasion scandal. When was that?

You are spot on regarding Lakers-Kings 2002. The biggest ref travesty I've seen in any sport. Truthfully that series had me lose interest for a long time too. I'd recommend getting back into it though, NBA ball is very healthy right now unless your hatred for Lebron is too much to bear.

A quick search said Steve Javie testified in '98 to tax evasion charges! As for basketball, you hit the nail on the head with LeBron! He's so unlikeable, I can't stand to see his face! He was to be the next star, so mature for his age, then he dumped Cleveland like a bad habit! He couldn't even let them know his plans with them doing all kinds of things like firing the coach for nothing! His ego was so out of control, he thought when visiting with The Heat that his posey could ride right into the players garage and was told to "kick rocks!" I'm so done with that d-bag! I was so hoping San Antonio would take last year's final, but they blew that 6th game and they were done! Pop was the most responsible taking out Parker near the end! They turned the ball over and that was that! That could be Duncan's last chance to win a title!

Fair enough, we got off on a bit of a tangent I suppose.

Fiero, all I will say regarding Lebron is that there have been far worse guys in the league, some of which are made out to be infallible heroes. I don't care for Lebron's ego but fact of the matter is he is the 2nd best baller I've seen (started watching in the early 90's) and we all know who #1 is. In bball I just respect greatness since my horse in the race is almost never around past April.

Well being from Chicago, I'm terribly disillusioned with the sport when you have a reigning MVP, D Rose taking a whole year off even though he was cleared to play months before the playoffs! I'm so done with the sport! Football is king, even with teams I don't know anything about! They keep it homoginized enough you don't get the offensive behavior you get in basketball & baseball! Now A-Rod is embarrassing his sport trying to hang on even though he's been busted; big time! He's a money Ho and can't just walk away with the millions he's already ripped off! I've been done with baseball since they've all but banned Bonds; hypocrites! At least my White Sox took a title before I'm gone! THE Cubs can "kick rocks" with their loser mentality! I can see their home from my apartment, but I haven't been to a game in decades!
