alright, so the good news for Roger: Stakhovsky and Delbonis aren't in his half Wink
his first opponent should be fun as well - either Brands again, or his old pal Chiudinelli. also, Roger won't start until Thursday. would be a heck of a four-day weekend if he goes deep.

also, even with Roger coming, Wawrinka is getting the royal treatment. he was even flown in to the tournament with a private vessel (of sorts):

Classic photo lol. Go Stan The Man! I hope Fed does well here. When I see Federer and BYE below it sends a negative message to my brain that we'll be saying BYE to him again before the latter stages. Hopefully not. Only a 250 but some good clay courters attending so it won't be a walk in the park by any means.

And so we wait to see which scrub will upset Federer this time. My money is on Brands. If he gets by him then he'll lose to Stanislas in the final.

btw: Rosol's out (astonishing that he was seeded. but i guess it comes with the territory of a clay 250 in late July that players ranked 40+ will be seeded).

Just look at the seeds in Atlanta, there are players ranked 40 or so getting byes!

LOL Stakhovsky is carefully hidden in Wawrinka's quarter and the Bavarian who's proven to be benign is thrown to Fed.

Lost his last 4 matches since beating Federer at Wimbledon. Bet that really p***es Roger off.

Del is about to claim another clay scalp. He's up 7-5 4-3 on Bellucci.

Spot on. The events on clay this month post Wimbledon are a lot and I have to re-iterate a A LOT stronger in participation than the events in NA on HC, it's like we are heading to RG all over againBig Smile

For example, last week in Bogota there were only two top 50 in the field, Sijsling ranked 55 was seeded 3 and Malisse ranked 90 was seeded 8!

Looked more like a challenger in fact, and such a weak field facilitated a final between two players ranked outside of the top 100, when was the last time such a final happened at ATP level?

This week is similar, in Atlanta only 3 top 50 players, while in Umag are 9 and in Gstaad are 7.
There seems to be a lot of reluctance to switch to HC by the players.

herios may have a point. Why so many in Europe? You would think they would want events on the hard courts to prepare for the final slam of the year. I will bet Murray and Nole are hitting on hard courts somewhere. Rafa? I don't know about him, but I would think he is practicing his service.

Virgil Cane is the name ...

I think most of the Europeans are sticking close to home while they can because when they leave for the US, they will be gone min 5 weeks. Also the lower ranked players see an opportunity to win a tournament because the top players don't historically play anything after Wimby but the 2 master HC.

This is a great sign, as I see it. Losing on Sunday had to hurt -- a lot! -- but I love that he's already back to winning matches.

Now is the right time to make the racket change. There is no one in the top 50 using 90 sq inches. There will be some rocky roads during the adjustment period for sure. Sampras went on record saying he wished he had done the same...I still say the 2002 Open was the luckiest slam win ever.

Why do tournaments insist on giving Roger cows? Perhaps he'll swap this one for some magic beans. Wink

“She wonâ€t be in my trophy room thatâ€s for sure..weâ€ll find a good solution, she needs a nice place & enough to eat” - Federer on his new cow
