How important is playing Davis Cup
As No1e said two weeks ago, important wins can add wind to every member of the DC team back.

After important victory in Boise, 3 members of Serbian Davis Cup team won titles in the same day in 3 different matches. As you know No1e beat Rafa, you probably know that Zimonjic together with Beneteau beat brothers in MC doubles final, but also Bozoljac (partnering Zimonjic in Idaho) won a Challenger doubles title in Sarasota, Florida pairing with Devvarman.

RE: How important is playing Davis Cup
I think it's important. DC gives a player an opportunity to play against the best players from the other team (usually the top players from that country and most likely the tour in general). I think it's vital for the lower ranked players who don't get an opportunity to go deep in majors or M1000. DC can restore confidence or jump start a player's ascension on tour.

Depends on the player/country. Some players find it more important than others.

Pretty much it...JMac found it very important, Pete not so much...Both had great careers. Extremely subjective issue.

I think it is important as it instills pride when you succeed. As we saw when Serbia won, it propelled Novak to greater heights. Berdych has even seen a solidifying of some consistency near the top as well after the Czechs won. I think it just goes to show how much pride in yourself goes toward making the best of your game.

Yep. Some players don't care on the basis that tennis is an individual sport. Still, when you are from a country that's strong enough to win it.....even Jimmy Connors who wasn't a Davis Cup fan by any stretch of the imagination ended up playing it in the end to fill a gap in his resume.
