I hope Tipsa won't choke again. He is in depression for some time but I hope he may start winning again, there in Romania.

Yes, he does. He is a very wealthy man, with fingers in many places. This one in Bucharest, he owns it together with Nastase and a bank, BRD (Romanian Development Bank).
I just went to read an article in romanian, where he mentioned in a conference press this week that this is his last year to be involved with the Bucharest Open, next year he steps back and leaves his share to his son, Ion Alexandru Tiriac.
Perhaps you didn't know, Tiriac also leased the "Dubai Open" for 10 years until 2012.

No. I wasn't aware of Dubai only his involvement w/ Madrid.

On the other board the one thread asked for predictions of who would drop out of the top ten in 2013. Just about everyone picked Tipsy. He's in real danger of proving them right.

I am so sad for Janko. I have a suspicion of what is wrong, but I am not 100% sure. He definitely lost confidence. Although that could come back with something inspiring him. We'll see. I think he made a mistake of not going to Boise with the guys. It is not going to help now with clay season, not his favourite part of tennis season. Anyway, good luck to him and Viki.Heart

And I remebered one more thing, Tiriac is also the co-owner of a new 250 clay event, starting this season, in Dusseldorf.
This new tourney will replace the World team event on clay in the same town, which was always scheduled right before RG.
The event was sold to Tiriac and Rainer Schuttler, after Rainer retired last year.

Monfils entered in this event for the first time, getting a WC (he is now ranked 105). Unfortunately, he lasted only 1 1/2 matches, after defeating Volandri, he retired today against Brands, at 6-7, 0-2.
I am wondering will he ever be healthy again to last a season?

So beside Madrid and Bucurest he owns Dueseldorf and he also had Dubai in past. That's all very impressive.

I saw you called him wealthy, but being a billionaire, Tiriac is much more than wealthy, he is filthy rich.

It seems likely to happen but I hope he will prove them wrong. It would be typical of him if he does that in the very last moment.

Janko was upset by GG lopez, who is always dangerous, even if he has fallen through the rankings.
SF:
Mayer - Lopez
Simon - Rosol

Good to see Rosol doing well. In a 250 final now. Hope he wins it. Quite a one sided scoreline against Simon who is pretty good on clay.

Probably more confident, after he led the czechs DC team to victory recently, he put together his best event to date.
He will be more rested tomorrow than either GG Lopez or F. Mayer, who are battling now in the 3rd set. And is hot in Bucharest, they say 30+ celcius

GG Lopez pills through with great defensive skills at times. He makes his 4th career final, but he wasn't in one, since 2010.
A rare final between 2 unseeded players tomorrow.

Clearly I haven't been paying enough attention, but am I the only one who is shocked to realize that Monfils is now ranked 105? Wow.

It's lousy alright. He's constantly injured. From world number 7 in 2011 back to this is terrible. And this after declaring himself 100% healthy for this first time in ages just a few weeks ago. Such a shame. Good to see Rosol in his first ever ATP final. Hope he wins tomorrow. Missed the match against Simon but he got handily beaten by Rosol.

I watched Monfils in person against Tommy Haas in January in what was the best tennis match ever played in New Zealand. He played well, but later he had bad luck with lack of fitness and injuries.

Speaking of Haas, I was surprised to see him along with Felix Baumgartner among No1e's fans in Monte-Carlo final.
