Don't think we can be so sure of that. There are three Masters and RG before grass. They together are worth 5000 points. Also, there are several itsy bitsy tourneys including a Barcy 500. So, lot of things could change, especially since Fed is going on a hiatus and will lose MC points during the hiatus.

If Fed wins IW and/or he reaches SF in Miami also, it is reasonably secure.

And also whether he decides to play a clay masters before RG or not. He might be able to scrap a few points there. (maybe Tongue)

Yeah, but people are going to be defending points from those tournaments also. I suppose that "pretty secure" may be overstating it, but as long as he has reasonable runs (say 4R/QF) in Miami/Rome/RG, he ought to more than compensate for the points he loses in Monte Carlo.

Thiem, for example, defends a SF at RG and QF in Rome, for 900 points in total from those two events. Cilic, admittedly, defends almost nothing on clay.

But I guess Fed is the favourite now to win IW - and if he does, or at least beats Sock to reach the final, this whole discussion becomes pretty academic. Smile

If Roger wins IW, he will be ranked #6. It is not clear whether Raonic is ready for action yet. Also, with the rumors that Novak is skipping Miami, there is a small, but non-negligible chance, that Roger may get a top four seeding in Miami (not that he needs it).

As everyone knows, Sir Andy drops out of Miami. It looks like Raonic is ready to play. However, Fed will still get #4 seed, if he wins IW and if Novak drops out as rumored.

The way he plays, he does not need it.

Yes, haha. But, I don't like that Miami surface at all. No No

RE: Rankings
It is now official. Novak has withdrawn from Miami. Therefore Stan will be the top seed in Miami.
Nishikori and Milos will be #2 and #3 respectively. If Roger wins the final today at IW, he will be the fourth seed; otherwise Rafa will be the fourth seed.

^Wow, that Nishioka is up to 58th already? Sock hasn't ever really impressed me that much but it's not that I don't like him. He just looks like a guy who will max out at or around #10.

I agree about Sock, a big serve and a strong FH was enough to get him here in the top 20. After seeing him more this week, I see where he is lacking, movement, speed and BH, without improvement in those areas, he will not get into the top 10.
