Thanks tented for posting it everyday. Good work.

The match between Berdych-Tomic will interesting and good to watch.
Tomic played the very good match against Gasquet who was playing very good. Gasquet won more points than Tomic and still lost which shows Tomic played big points well.

Haas wins in straight sets, keeps his grass dominance over Nole intact...Sleepy...Maybe not, but that is the one match that looks interesting to me.

Tomas has significantly more firepower than Richard and unless he has a brain cramp, I tend to believe he will win this in three.

Looking forward to Djokovic v. Haas. Like both these players and it should be a competitive match. Novak was almost flawless yesterday with 38 winners and 3 unforced errors. Tommy will be much better than Chardy at mixing up his serves, pace and shot selection.
Nehmeth, I also believe that Berdy will win but looking at Tomics
recent resergance I am more interested to see how it goes.
Regarding Djoko-Haas it will be well contested one. Lookig at Noles flawless execution in the last match, I don't think he will have any trouble.

Really looking forward to Djoker-Haas and will be rooting for the winner to win the tournament. I think Haas is going to be very tough for him but obviously Djokovic is the favorite. I agree with Mog that Berd-Tomic could be an interesting one as well. Berd just played an up and down match and Tomic looked pretty good against Gasquet without the usual mental lapses.

Haas could very well give Djokovic trouble. The way I see it, the German is much harder to break down from the baseline then what Novak is used to. I believe it will come down to serving and which player is more enterprising; e.g. coming to net and hitting for the lines. Obviously Nole is still the favorite, but I see this as being a tricky sort of match.

I've always been a fan of Mr. Easy Power's game and Tomic's court coverage will be tested in this one as T-Berd is efficient at driving the ball down the lines. Good thing Tomic has a lot of variety in his game and will need every bit of it to keep Tomas off-balanced. Gasquet was a good match-up for the Aussie because of his settling way too far behind the baseline which in turn allowed Tomic to dictate play very often and choose which balls to come in on. Both of these big guys need to try and sneak to net when they can. Should be a good one!

Big day for me tomorrow. I have 3 horses in the race, all with good chances to book their places in teh QF, Novak and JM with Fernando for the very first time.
I would also like JJ to make it there, I like him and I do think his future is bright.

The so called bottom half which was supposed to be deadly, looks like:

Murray seeded 2
Youzhny 20
Janowicz 24
Melzer ranked 34
Verdasco 54
De Schepper 80
Mannarino 111
Kubot 130

Funny how they will play: 1/2, 3/4, 5/6. 7/8

Misha was asked in the presser if he will have sleepless night knowing he'll play Murray, he replied
" I will sleep normally":clap

^ very poetic.

agree that normally, Berd should blast Tomic off the court... but if Tomas is having an off-ish day, Bernie's off-pace shots might drive him crazy. so that could be interesting.

i'd love for Tommy H to make it a good contest v Novak. he's got the skills for it, no doubt, and relatively speaking is more at home on grass than Nole is. i doubt it though. i know it's premature at a tournament like this, but for me, it seems rather clear that Novak can only be stopped in the finals, and by just one guy.

Haas is going to be a serious challenge. I hope Novak can capitalize on the big points, if so he'll be okay. Serving has been great so far, ROS too. His backhand was a bit iffy in the rallies before Chardy, but I expect it to be working fine today. Hajde!

Argentinian press says that Del Potro will assess whether or not to play against Seppi, due to injury to his left knee suffered in the last round. He also rolled his ankle in that match, but it seems to be ok. Huh

So the only player who is not getting a cakewalk draw to the semis is Novak... Confused Bitter irony.

But I wouldn't be surprised if Ferrer gets 'upset'. Dolgopolov should have won. Did anyone notice Ferrer's grunt in the fifth set was given just before Dolgopolov hitted the ball? No No Azarenka tactics...

^ yeah, Ferru sometimes forgets the grunts and then starts mis-timing them, usually getting way late Wink

it'll be interesting, for sure. Dodig has some game, it could work quite well.

that's horrible to hear re: DelPo. too many injuries in the tournament, and always too many with the big guy. makes you wonder if this is the right sport for his body. golf might be better. or chess. :/

By "player" do you mean Top 2? There are 16 players left, and I'm sure they don't all feel they have a cupcake entree into the semis. However, I take your point that it's ironic, given all the palaver about the power in the bottom half. However, Novak's draw was never going to be different than it is.

And, no, I didn't notice what you say about Ferrer's grunting. I've heard that comment before, and I find it exaggerated and looking for gamesmanship where there is none. David is a very focused player. He is a grunter, but I don't think he'd break his own rhythm by changing when he grunts. How would you even do that? Dolgopolov is a talented but streaky player, and Ferrer is solid. That's what happened in that match.

^ i agree on the assesment of what happened, and i wouldn't say it's gamesmanship. but i've noticed the "late grunt" too often by Ferrer. it's definitely something that he falls into from time to time. won't point fingers as to why that is, though. might be that when he gets über-concentrated and a bit tight, he holds the tension of the strike a bit longer, hence delaying the grunt. but it is definitely noticeable.

^ For the record, I have nothing against grunting, on the men's or women's side. I will try to go back and look, but when I watch them play, it seems an expulsion of air related to effort. I don't really get that, in the few seconds they have to see the ball, choose a shot, and make it effectively, they also have time to decide when to make a noise. But maybe they're more clever at multi-tasking than I believe.

It's telling that you didn't notice. It was impossible not to notice. The hard question is whether it was 'intentional' (which refers to gamesmanship). It was really weird because he had already hit the ball and the ball was already over the net.

Personally, I think they should let loose the subjective standard and just assess whether the grunt can hinder the other player. If the player is making loud sounds after the ball has crossed the net, that is IMO hindrence and should be penalized. The gamesmanship question is then averted.

The 'unintentional' rule is also barely enforced though too.

Dolgopolov probably also didn't complain, but if an opponent says it bothers him, the rule should be enforced.
