Who will stop Serena's winning streak?
Serena is enjoying the longest winning streak of her career, it is now 33 matches and counting, correct me if I am wrong.

We all know winning streaks come to an end sooner or later, even Martina's 76 match winning streak came to end.

So, who will stop Serena's?
Will it be one of the top players or another Virginia? Or will it be an injury?

Lisicki or Petra can do it here if they play their best game and Serena has an off day.

Azarenka in Cincinnati Cool. There is remotely a theory to this and it isn't just a complete stab in the dark Wink.

Sabine can knock anyone out, Serena included, whether she would do it or not, it's a different story.

How about Date-Krumm? She has never played Serena before!

Serena will defend her title....Sabine will not beat Rena even if she has knocked out every FO champion the past three years...Serena s serve does not break down easily like pova s or Petra...

Lisicki? Big talk about a player that never even been in the top ten.

Really, Date?

Huh? Kimiko was ranked 4. It may have been 2 decades ago but she was there!

I would guess either a low ranked player in the 1st or 2nd round. Once Serena is past the first few rounds she becomes basically unbeatable.

2nd I would guess Azarenka if her injury isn't too bad. Im guessing at a non-slam event. I think Azarenka has the goods to at least hang with Serena on hard courts and that is where she has the most confidence. She came within inches of beating Serena at the US Open and beat her in Dubai on hard courts. That being said, Azarenka usually doesn't come back from injury with a hell of a lot of confidence. It will be interesting to see if she can regain her footing before the year is out.

The fact that Serena's streak has been going so long and it's still only 33 matches is such an insane testament to Martina's abilities. 76?! How the hell did she do that?!

I was speaking of Sabine never having been in top ten.

And Serena's streak has only been going since late March, three months. Martina streak lasted practically an entire year.

If someone does stop it, it will be at some non factor tournament during the US Open Series. Maybe Cinci again...

Sabine may have never been top 10 but she has a tendency to take down top 10 players, she did it here last year to Masha and at the time Masha was #1

One thing is for sure, either Sabine or Samantha will be facing Serena in the fourth round, that's if Serena gets past Kimiko.

Long as Serena's streak is on, so is this thread!

I don't think Date will be the one, but I was more surprised that they'd never played before.

Well, heck, there has been countless players whom have beaten a top ten players. Sabine doesn't have any greater chance than anyone else in the top 100 of beating Serena. Sabine being that player that ends Serena's streak just isn't likely.

I think Serena needs to go seriously AWOL for anyone to take a set off her, but the match that might ignite a fierce squabble is Stosur, if it happens. But I still think that'd be over in straights...

I think it will be a Kerber or someone along those lines. She is playing a clay event in Bastad, Toronto, Cincy and the US Open. I imagine if she is going to stumble it will be in one of the 3 before the US Open. I think she will be motivated to win in Bastad to keep an undefeated clay record for this year. She has played quite a bit of tennis; however, not playing doubles with Venus like she did in Wimbledon and the Olympics on top of playing Stanford last year like she did should curb any fatigue she could experience.

Can you believe it? When I was looking it up, I couldn't believe my eyes.
A 31 year old and a 42 year old, being on the tour for soooo long, have never played each other...
