Your favourite Christmas Carol/Song
I'm changeable as the weather in Dublin on this one. But as of now, my favourite carol is Hark The Herald Angels Sing, music by Mendelssohn, which, when sung by a good choir at full wail, is a thing of glory.

Christmas Song: even more changeable, there's been so many classic, and given that it's Christmas, even George Michael and Mariah sound great. There must be a special music key called "the Christmas key" that renders Christmas songs oblivious to age and wear and tear. I listen constantly to Christmas FM and even the corniest songs sound magical.

Today? This one is my fave:

My all-time favorite carol is "The Little Drummer Boy", performed by the Harry Simeone Chorale.

I also love "Carol of the Bells" when sung a cappella, but it's hard to find a really great one. I just found this version on YouTube, and it's pretty good. If anyone knows of another, please share it with us.

Ever since I saw the movie Christmas Vacation, this has been my favorite Christmas song:

Favorite Christmas song ever: O Holy Night. There have been many versions, but no one quite does it as elegantly as Celine or Leontyne

And for a little holiday fun, I absolutely love this rendition by Straight No Chaser

Since we are still in Christmas season, I shall name mine. First, I love the traditional carols, such as We Three Kings and O Holy Night, both of which are so rich when sung by the legendary Ray Conniff Singers. It was from their Xmas album from around 1961. Fabulous stuff. As for more modern "pop" Christmas tunes, I always liked Burl Ives singing Have a Holly Jolly Christmas and then Bing Crosby singing Silver Bells. Always love to hear those two tunes.

Virgil Cane is the name ...

This Christmas is awesome, but a cold snowy night with "The Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole sets the Christmas mood like no other, in my opinion.

Yeah, it has that magic the best Christmas songs have.

I haven't heard too many Christmas songs this year yet, for some reason I don't listen to the radio as much, but this morning I was horrified to hear Rod Stewart singing Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, an ugly, sugary-sweet nostalgic atrocity committed on one of the all-time Christmas classics. Here's the antidote:
