Last time when none of the top 4 seeds made it to semi-finals of Wimbledon
I was just going through the Wimbledon history to compile a few articles for my blog (http://www.thetennisstat.com), that I notice that it has happened only twice since the dawn of open era that all the top 4 seeds have fell before the SF stage of Wimbledon. The first time it happened was in 1992 when Agassi won his first GS and only Wimbledon crown, he was seeded 12th. It happened again in 1996 when Richard Krajicek won his only GS. Pete Samprass was the top seed and 3 time defending champion in 1996, but lost to Krajicek in QF.

Interesting stat, Omair. Cheers! Had a feeling it was in the 90s alright. I don't think it'll happen this year as I see an early exit for at least one of the top 5. By early I mean quarters or before. Fed wouldn't be favoured against Berdych or Tsonga at all at this stage on grass with his poor ROS and Nadal is always dodgy in week 1. More confident in Murray and Djokovic making it to the semis. Will be an interesting year for sure.

Of course a lot hangs on the draw as always and fans can only hope their players get a favourable draw. A lot of dangerous opponents this year in the early rounds.

Indeed Front242 Smile
Yeah, it is almost near to impossible to happen this year with the level at which the top players are playing, but again everyday is a new day and nothing is impossible.
I agree with you about Nadal and Federer, Federer has been having a lot of problem against the big hitters lately, especially this year the problem has further enhanced. I will keep my fingers crossed for Federer though Smile

and yes indeed, a lot depends on the draw as well. Let us hope for some great matches Smile
