Good chance for Haas to claim another title. I think he would reach #11 with a win here. Monaco has not been in form but he and Kohl figure to be the other likely candidates.

btw, it's "Power HoRse". not meaning to be a smart-ass here, just that i was surprised that it would be called Power House Cup. "Power Horse" is, by the way, an energy drink. can't wait 'til the "Red Bull Open" rolls around (i reckon they wouldn't do below Masters 1000 level) Wink

Haas is out by retirement. Haven't read if he's injured or just a bit tired. And Guido Pella beat Troicki, after having beaten Tipsarevic yesterday. Never heard of the 101 ranked Argentine until this week.

Just what I really didn't want to happen. Tommy is long overdue another great run at the slams, like RG '09. Really hope he's just fatigued and rests up for RG where he has a good shot to make some noise if he gets a decent draw. Can't see why he played here. I know he's only a few places from the top 10 and it's a German tournament so he wants to please his local fans but it made no sense to play here when RG starts on Sunday.

Then you can mark his name, because you'll hear moe about him, going forward. He also upet Fognini earlier thi year in the south-american swing.
And he is only 23y old, in today's tennis that is young.

Haas withdrew with a cold. Or a "cold." Either way, nothing to fret over, thankfully.

I'll keep my eye out. (I see he's already gone up 19 points in the rankings.)

Tomorrow: Pella v. Monaco, Sijsling v. Nieminen.

Monaco - Pella 6-4, 7-6.
I wacthed a bit and the end of the econd et, I like Pella quite a bit. Lefty with a strong FH and good movement.
I could see him surging into the top 50, at least, depending how will fare on other surfaces than clay, now that he'll play the ATP tour, rather than the challenger.

Cheers for the update about Haas. Would've been gutted if he missed out on playing when he's in such great form.
